Welcome Friends!
Het Hout’s FIRST blog entry and we're not wasting any time! We’re diving right in with our FIRST “client” for the One Room Challenge. We will be participating for the FIRST time as guest participants and are super excited to share our journey with you! Follow along on the blog jawn or Instagram.
What’s the One Room Challenge you ask? It’s an interior design event that happens 2x a year. It challenges designers (and non-designers) to finish ONE room in a 6 weeks time frame. This is a totally reasonable deadline to complete one room. But as we all know, life so often gets in the way of allowing us to complete (even fun) projects. The One Room Challenge dares us to focus and slow down. We are super excited to get started and for the chance at documenting our design process.
Tell us about the room you say?! Were calling it the Queen Village Dining Room Revive. This space has all the potential, all the bones, and a great home owner to work with. We have many thanks to give to our volunteer client for letting us into her home and allowing us to make some really fun changes.
Here is a peak into the existing space before any changes are made.
The shape of the room presents us with a challenge as well as the unique use of the space. Not only is this room used by the family regularly for meals and holidays, it is a place of transition from the entry way straight into the home. It’s the place where we all enter our house and DROP our shoes, coats, bags, and keys. Finding dual-use furniture and maximizing the space are the goals we have laid out, and we are SO ready to get started on this One Room Challenge!
